TESTIMONIALS

Meeting The Needs Of Our Business Community

“The BECWIB has been instrumental in assisting our member companies in receiving almost 9 million dollars over the last 4 years. This has helped several of our members increase their sales, staff and overall growth and competitiveness in the marketplace. The staff at the BECWIB is committed to the growth of companies in Erie County and because of this we look forward to our continued relationship with the BECWIB.”

Christine G. Plowucha

“Graphic Controls appreciates all the assistance provided to us over the last several years by The Workforce Investment Board of Buffalo and Erie County. Their assistance included training and job placement in 1999 and 2000 for individuals who lost their positions due to the acquisition of our company. In 2001, training grants made it possible for Graphic Controls to expand our product lines and create new jobs in Buffalo. They continue to assist us on a regular basis with job openings. Now that we are again locally owned and operated, we look forward to a continued partnership with the Workforce Investment Board.”

Carleen Taylor

“The support and cooperation we’ve received from the Workforce Development Consortium and the Workforce Investment Board has enabled Rich’s to provide superior training and development opportunities for us to attract and retain extraordinary Associates.”

“Our association with The Buffalo and Erie County Workforce Investment Board and its wonderful staff has been a truly outstanding experience. Their commitment to helping local companies including those in the not for profit sector through workforce development, education and training has provided a learning lifeline that otherwise may not have been available to the Jewish Community Center of Greater Buffalo.

The new skills and learning opportunities for our employees made possible by the $99,000 grant will result not only in their individual career growth and potential but will also help us expand our programs and services that touch so many individuals and families in our greater WNY community. We are very excited and grateful to BECWIB.”

Paula Szkutak
Chief Finance Officer
Jewish Community Center of Greater Buffalo

“In today’s globally competitive marketplace, it takes innovation and partnership to grow and excel. New York State and the Workforce Investment Board have been great partners and instrumental in our success. The mentoring and grant assistance they have provided have been key elements as we have invested in the technology capabilities and careers of our people in Western New York.”

Rich Stilson, PMP

“Niagara Ceramics has found it very beneficial to hire employee’s through different agencies here in Erie County and Buffalo. Denise Raymond from the ECC Employment & Training Center has supplied us with many qualified permanent employees. Her assistance in our hiring has been fantastic. Also assisting in this was Mike McGrath, from the Workforce Development Consortium and Charlie Martindale from the New York State Division of Employment Services. Both have been great assets in helping us start up our business. Without these agencies this would have been a much more difficult task. Many thank to all involved.”

Tom Ziolkowski
V.P. Operations/HR
Niagara Ceramics Corporation

“The WIB has been instrumental in assisting our company to achieve our training and company growth goals. By working with the WIB we have increased our overall budget for training, and have been able to provide our employees the training to be competitive in the marketplace. I would recommend to every local company to get in touch with the WIB to learn more about what they can do for their business.”

Timothy J. Frank
VP & Practice Director

“MRM has been more than doubling each of the past three years. We have found the programs put together in NYS such as the Building Skills in NYS (BUSINYS) that are designed to help young, growing companies extremely valuable both from an investment perspective as well as from staff building perspective. We would not be where we are today without the helping hand of the Buffalo and Erie County Workforce Investment Board (WIB). Thank you for your help in the growth & success of our company.”

John D. Williams
President
MedRecovery Management, LLC

“After InfoTech Niagara made me aware of BUSINYS funding for employee skills improvement, I explored the prerequisite steps to qualify for consideration. While the benefits were obvious, the application procedure looked daunting. However, we found BECWIB to be particularly helpful and encouraging, as well as subsequent dialog with NYSDOL. As we’re now a veteran “funding recipient” company, we’re in the process of making a new application, which we expect to complete even more quickly.”

Gary Guyton
Chief Executive Officer
LiquidMatrix Corporation

“Working with the Workforce Development group was a positive experience and produced some great candidates for many of our open positions. Their staff did a nice job of sending candidates with applicable and fitting skills for the types of positions we had available and based on the ease of their process for forwarding candidates. I would use them again in my recruiting efforts.”

Lura Lentz
Human Resource Manager
Bremner, Inc.

“The Child Care Coalition of the Niagara Frontier, Inc., is a not-for-profit, human services agency that works throughout Erie County to support families, provides and the community by advancing and developing quality, accessible and affordable early care and education.

In March 2004, the coalition wrote a 32i grant to help underwrite the cost of our staff development. The Buffalo and Erie County Workforce Investment Board (BECWIB), was a tremendous help in completing our 32i grant application. In June, 2004 the Coalition was notified that we would receive a DOL training grant for $48,545. The 28 members of the Coalition’s staff are looking forward to the beginning of this training. This training is designed to increase staff knowledge of computer software, customer service issues and business management. The addition of professional development opportunities for the Coalition’s staff will ensure the agency’s ability to meet the early care and education needs of the growing WNY workforce.”

Valerie C. Cooley, Ed.D.
Executive Director

“Because of the outstanding efforts of BECWIB, the Buffalo Urban League was able to participate in the request for the state grant for technology training as well as becoming the recipients of the funding. Our entire Technology Team has been able to obtain network administration training as well as advanced database management instruction. This has allowed our team to become more knowledgeable and efficient in our career work. It has also given each of us genuine quality improvements in our network administration and other IT responsibilities. This has yielded a substantial increase in our career satisfaction and professional responsibilities.”

Dr. Philip Siddons
Technology Coordinator
Buffalo Urban League

“I have been working with the BETC staff for almost two years, recruiting and hiring new employees for our production facility. Throughout this time, I have work closely with the BETC staff to ensure we are getting qualified candidates and unemployed persons who really are looking for a career. As a result of this, we, the BETC staff and myself have developed a program that accomplishes two goals; encourages and promotes the educational programs at the BETC and, prepares prospective hires with proper job seeking techniques. This has helped us a Norampac gain people for employment that are serious about finding a career and investing in themselves.

I have appreciated the efforts by the BETC staff to work with us to further grow our staff and business opportunities in Buffalo and Western New York.”

Pamela A. Krieger
Human Resources Manager
